Abstracts

All oral presentations from previous meetings are published as abstracts in the British Journal of Anaesthesia (BJA) Viewing and citation information for abstracts approved by the Society for publication in the BJA can be obtained using the website's search engine by typing Anaesthetic Research Society in the "Search This Journal" box. The search engine will then locate the respective pdf file for the required meeting(s).

Mapleson's Award

The Mapleson medal is awarded by the ARS to the presenter of the best abstract each year. It was instituted in commemoration of the great contribution of Professor Bill Mapleson.  He is best known for his 1954 study of rebreathing in what are now known as the "Mapleson" breathing systems, but he remains to this day an active ARS member, continuing to support younger members of the society.
