President's Prize for Undergraduate Research
In partnership, the BJA Research Forum/ARS and RCoA have established the President's Awards for Undergraduate Research. This is to support undergraduate medical students with an interest in anaesthesia and related specialities. Awards are given for clinical research or audits and laboratory-or model-based research. Medical students who have undertaken research projects as part of their training are invited to submit an abstract of their work. Applicants (supported by their supervisor) are then invited to the meeting of the BJA Research Forum/Anaesthetic Research Society at the Royal College of Anaesthetists in the Spring meeting of each year. The work is judged by a panel of experienced researchers and the winners presented with their prize at the end of the day. In the past posters have been the form of presentation, but in recent years powerpoint presentations have been adopted. If there is excessive demand then we may chose to return to poster presentation, but currently we anticipate powerpoint presentations will be the medium employed.
